The Coming-Home Outfit & Organic Swaddle

Space-cartoon illustration of B the bee for The Coming-Home Outfit & Organic Swaddle

The first outfit B ever wore was a petal. Yours can be close: breathable, undyed or low-dye, and easy to change at 3 a.m.

PANEL 1
B tries on a cape made of muslin.
“Breathable. Super-hero approved.”
PANEL 2
B tries a shiny ‘wrinkle-free’ shirt.
“Hmm. Why does it need a finish?”
PANEL 3
B chooses plain cotton.
“Simple is stellar.”

Step by step

  1. Choose GOTS-certified organic cotton or OEKO-TEX Standard 100 fabric for skin-contact pieces.
  2. Prefer snaps or zips over pullovers; avoid heavy plastisol prints on the chest.
  3. Swaddle with breathable muslin; keep hips loose (‘hip-healthy’ swaddling).
  4. Stop swaddling once baby shows signs of rolling, per safe-sleep guidance.
  5. Pre-wash everything in fragrance-free detergent.
Study glowGOTS covers fiber and processing (restricted dyes/finishes); OEKO-TEX Standard 100 tests the finished item for listed harmful substances — different labels, both useful.
