Step by step
- Firm, flat, bare: baby on back, no pillows, bumpers or loose blankets (AAP).
- Look for GREENGUARD Gold, MADE SAFE, or GOTS/GOLS on the mattress.
- Check the TB117-2013 tag for ‘no added flame retardant chemicals’.
- Choose polyethylene waterproofing over vinyl; skip ‘stain-guard’ finishes.
- Use a wearable sleep sack (organic cotton) instead of blankets.
